GEOGRAPHY MOUNTAIN EXPEDITION TO INDONESIA Karst Sewu

Gunungsewu Karst is a series of the Southern Mountains of Java that runs from Yogyakarta to Parangtritis Teleng Ria Beach in East Java Pacitan. Karst Gunungsewu administratively located in the Province Gunungkidul Yogyakarta, Central Java Province Wonogiri, and Pacitan in East Java Province. Underground river is a typical phenomenon that occurs in the Karst region. At this location, an underground river water used in the manufacture of wells penetrate an underground river next to the water is pumped up and distributed. Depths of underground river at this point reaches 105 meters below ground surface.The next destination is the location of karst lake, is a lake in the area karstyang filled with water during the rainy season. This lake is one of the doors where an underground river before getting a water supply.In addition to biaotik and abiotic phenomena, culture is one of the main aspects that were examined in this expedition. Related to cultural aspects, expedition team discovered a tradition that the village clean Gunungkidul society commonly referred to as "Rosulan". Rosulan tradition is a tradition held every year in the month of Rajab, as an expression of gratitude to all the grace and gift of the Creator.
